Shropshire Union Canal Society

Welcome to our website

The Whitchurch Waterway Trust have made it to the shortlist of 3 to become the Local Charity of the Year for Sainsbury's Whitchurch branch. The winning charity will organise fundraising events in which Sainsbury's volunteers will participate, together with the charity's volunteers. Vote online at www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk using the postcode SY13 1NJ between 15th and 28th June or take a slip and drop it in a box in the store's entrance - no purchase is necessary.

The Shropshire Union Canal Society was formed to protect and enhance the canals of the historic Shropshire Union system in England and Wales, and since 1968 we have been actively engaged in the restoration of the Montgomery Canal.

The Society is always delighted to welcome new members from all walks of life. Whether you are a walker, boater, naturalist, holiday maker or local business, there is a place in the Society for you.

Becoming a member does not mean that you have to become a volunteer, far from it! Armchair support is just as important, and you can keep in touch through the Society's magazine CUTTINGS and through the pages of this website.
